Using Communities
How to find and join communities for your hobbies and interests, and connect through posts and comments. Also covers how to create your own community.
Communities are groups where people connect over shared hobbies and topics. Once you join, you can post and comment with other members.
Find communities
Open "Community" from the bottom tabs and you'll see two tabs: "Discover" and "Joined."
- Discover: Browse sections like "Official communities," "Staff picks," "Most popular," and "Active communities." You can also search by name or keyword with "Search communities..." at the top.
- Joined: A list of the communities you've joined.
To find topics across all communities, use "Find Posts" in the menu (≡). You can sort by "Most active" or "Newest."
Join a community
Communities have three visibility settings, and each one works differently when you join.
| Visibility | How to join |
|---|---|
| Public | Tap "Join" to join right away |
| Approval Required | Send a request with "Apply to join." You can join once an admin approves it (until then, it shows "Pending Approval") |
| Private | Only invited people can join |
You can't join a community that has reached its member limit. To leave, use "Leave community."
Post and comment
Inside a community, you'll find the "Posts," "Media," and "Basic Information" tabs.
- Open the "Posts" tab and tap ✏ at the bottom right
- Write your post (you can attach images too)
- Tap "Post"
You can reply to other people's posts with "Add a comment." Only members of the community can post and comment. The "Media" tab shows all the images that have been posted.
Create your own
You can create one with the + button on the "Community" screen, or from "Create Community."
- Set the community name, category, description, tags (up to 10), and image.
- Under "Visibility Settings," choose "Public," "Approval Required," or "Private."
- Leave "Max Members (Optional)" blank for no limit.
Each person can create up to 5 communities.
