Photo Exchange and Private Album
"Photo Exchange" lets you both reveal your face photos at the same moment, and the "Private Album" can only be seen by people you approve. Here's how it works, from request to viewing.
Besides your public photos, aim has two ways to share photos with only the people you choose.
| Photo Exchange | Private Album | |
|---|---|---|
| What photos | Your exchange photo (1 face photo) | As many as you like |
| How they're shown | Revealed to both of you at the same time | Only people you approve can see them |
| Setup required | Must be verified by the aim team | None |
| Request expires | 24 hours | Never |
Photo Exchange: reveal face photos at the same time
This feature is for anyone who feels uneasy about showing their face first. The moment a request is approved, both of your exchange photos appear at the same time.
1. Add your exchange photo
- Open "My Profile" from the menu (≡)
- Under "Photo Management", tap "Manage exchange photo"
- Add one photo that clearly shows your face
Your exchange photo is not shown on your public profile. Adding a new one replaces the previous photo.
2. Wait for verification
The aim team reviews your photo to confirm it's really you. The status changes from "Pending Verification" to "Verified." If your photo isn't verified, please submit a different one.
3. Send a request
- Open the other person's profile and tap "…" at the top right
- Choose "Request photo exchange"
You can only send a request when both your exchange photo and theirs are "Verified." While yours isn't set up yet or is pending verification, the menu shows "(Not set)" or "(Pending Verification)" and can't be tapped.
4. Photos appear when they approve
The other person gets a notification, and when they tap "Approve," you can both see each other's exchange photos. Requests expire after 24 hours.
You can check requests you've sent, requests you've received, and people you've exchanged with in the "Sent," "Received," and "Approved" tabs under "Photo Exchange" in the menu. You can cancel requests you've sent.
Private Album: show photos only to people you approve
Add photos
- In "My Profile", under "Photo Management", tap "Edit Private Photos"
- Add photos with the button at the top right
Viewing someone else's album
Swipe to the end of someone's profile photos to find the "Private Photos" card.
- Tap "Request access"
- Add a message if you like (up to 500 characters) and send
The status changes to "Request sent," then to "View" once they approve.
Responding to requests
On the Private Album screen, tap ⚙ ("Photo access management") at the top right, then choose "Approve" or "Reject" in the "Received requests" tab. If you approve, the other person is notified. If you reject, they are not notified.
You can't exchange photos or request private album access with someone if either of you has blocked the other.
